Aurora Necklace in Caramel
Our button dreams are made of this: a visit to the Worthmore Five and Dime store, closing after 80 years in Rayne, Louisiana, to buy their back stock of West German glass buttons. These buttons, still on original cards priced at 10 to 25 cents each, were made in the 1950's and 1960's by the B. Blumenthal company under the trade names Le Chic, Costumakers, and Exquisit. Not only were these buttons some of the most beautiful examples of West German glass we have ever seen, several styles were plentiful enough for us to include them in our production line of jewelry! In this piece: Two vintage glass buttons with coppery gold luster, made in Western Germany in the 1950's by the B. Blumenthal company and sold on cards with the trade name Exquisit One gold and grey flower button hand-pressed in antique iron molds in the Czech Republic, using a centuries old process. Three brass-plated pewter settings made in the US. Stamped brass bail made in the US. Antiqued brass ball chain.
